Teach your kids about nature!
To learn about nature, you don’t have to travel far. Visit the zoo or take time to explore the diverse nature in your backyard. While exploring, ask your kids about what types of animals or insects plants need to survive, or what are the similarities and differences between what animals need and what humans need from the natural world. This informal conversation can help your kids start to learn about the importance of conservation and the protection of nature, as well as the natural habitat that many plants and animals live in. Conservation of natural resources contributes not only to nature, but to us, allowing us all to live healthy lives with clean air and water. Here are some ideas for teaching your children that every person can help protect the environment through simple actions every day:
- Start a recycling program in your house. Look for the symbol:
in the products you buy and use, and recycle those materials that reduce the contamination of water and nature.
- Conserve water and don’t leave the faucet running when you are not using it.
- Reduce the contamination of carbon dioxide by walking, riding a bike, or using public transportation in place of using a car. It’s a good idea for the environment and for your health!
Conservation and respect for your environment begins in the home!
