The CLC/Triangle will have a table at this event featuring health, museum information, and more.

This event, in its 16th year, celebrates Latino culture among the Latin American community and its supporters. The festival provides a great opportunity for community education, including a health fair which offers free vaccines, dental and vision screenings, blood pressure and glucose tests; a public safety fair; and information and educational resources from more than 230 organizations that offer free materials and information on a variety of community services.  La Fiesta gives non-Latinos the chance to learn about the varied cultural heritage of Latinos in the United States, but also gives Latinos themselves the opportunity to appreciate and celebrate their own achievements as a burgeoning community in North Carolina.

Binational Health Week is one of the largest mobilization efforts of federal and state government agencies, community-based organizations, and volunteers in the Americas to improve the health and well-being of the underserved Latino population living in the United States.  The Health Fair is the kick-off event for this week-long effort to promote health education, including workshops, insurance referrals, and medical screenings.

This event seeks to empower education leaders and teachers with a better knowledge of the Hispanic student population and the factors that interfere with their educational performance.  The conference provides the opportunity to learn methods and practices that help Hispanic/ESL students overcome barriers to academic success and promote their involvement in school life.  Successful practitioners will share their experience and expertise in ESL programs, bilingual education, parental involvement, and linguistically diverse populations as a positive resource.
